Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's debut female singer for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. She released her first EP with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining notoriety. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012, when she released her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound, as well as the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. In July of 2015, she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her submit her tracks in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. On December 8 it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video was later released in September. In November, she dropped two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she dropped No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It was then released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February 2019, the video music for the song was released. The song has received more than three million YouTube views in just one week. As a support act, she toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
